The rare Fregate Island Enid Snail is a terrestrial snail endemic to the Fregate Islands of the Seychelles,
an island of some 2 sq km.
The baby snails travel on their mother's (or adult's) back. The snails' population declined rapidly during and following
a project to eradicate rats by using poison (successful to eradicate invasive rats but a disaster for the native snails). They are
now recovering but are still classified as endangered.
