Forty-six species of Dolichoiulus genus of millipedes are said to be native to the Canary Islands and
all endemic. Most species are found on Tenerife, the largest and most bio-diverse Canary island.
This millipede is commonplace, particularly in urban areas, and is thought to be
Dolichoiulus canariensis. It looks like the UK White-legged Black Snake millipede but with pink legs and antennae.
Some are brown. They are also pink-legged with pink antennae but may be a different species?
Since several look similar, there may be more than one species on this page.
