Forty-six species of Dolichoiulus genus of millipedes are said to be native to the Canary Islands and all endemic. Most species are found on Tenerife, the largest and most bio-diverse Canary island.

This millipede is commonplace, particularly in urban areas, and is thought to be Dolichoiulus canariensis. It looks like the UK White-legged Black Snake millipede but with pink legs and antennae.
