Alderfly Sialis lutaria

Alderfly, also called Alder Fly, larvae are aquatic predators but the adult flies, above, live only a few days to mate and without feeding.

Despite their wings like leaded glass windows, they don't fly far from the water where they lived as larvae. The female lays eggs at night on waterside plants.
