Bulbous Sulawesi Stick Insect Periphetes forcipatus

The Bulbous Sulawesi Stick Insect female is fat, green and looks similar to a Green Walking Bean but has a particularly bulbous rear segment when ready to lay eggs. She is some 10cm long. Shown above are the reddish brown or brown-green males which are thin and reach 8cm long. (Female in background, not in focus.) They are, of course, native to Indonesia's Sulawesi.
