Budwing Stick Insect Phaenopharos khaoyaiensis

The Budwing Stick Insect, also called Khao Stick Insect, has, as its name indicates, small budlike wingcases which open to reveal small bright red wings. It is native to tropical wooded areas of Thailand. Males exist but are rare. The female (above, with bud wings) is parthenogenetic and grows to 13cm long.
