The Green Bean Stick Insect, also commonly called by its Latin name, Diapherodes gigantea, is native to tropical rainforest of several Caribbean islands, including Granada. The bright green adult females are up to 16cm long and slow moving. Males narrower, shorter, greenish brown and able to fly. Nymphs are green. They eat leaves, mainly eucalyptus. Lifespan is 12-18months.
