Cat-eyed Mantis Heterochaeta orientalis

The Cat-eyed Mantis, also called the Giant African Stick Mantis, is native to dry bush in much of sub-Saharan Africa. Head-on, the eyes can resemble a cat's head with ears. A large, long mantis, - females growing to 15-20cm long - they hang on to and mimic dry grass and twigs providing them excellent camouflage. When threatened, they reveal boldly-patterned, coloured wings.
