The Sicus ferrugineus Fly is a Thick-head (Conopid) fly native to much of Europe.
Other Sicus species look similar, with a longish body rolled under at rest and a yellow face with short antennae.
The genus is one of several "Bee-grabbers" which lay eggs in bees. It is some 8-13mm long.
The adults feed on flower nectar and pollen. The larvae are parasites of bumble bees.
