Thick-legged Hoverfly Syritta pipiens

The Thick-legged Hoverfly has a bulging hind thigh after which it is named. It is native to Eurasia but also introduced to North America to control parasitic wasps. The male is long and narrow; the female has a broader body. Both have the bulging hind thighs.
