Plain Tiger Butterfly caterpillar
The caterpillar of the Plain Tiger Butterfly feeds, like most other Danaids, mainly on Milkweed plants that make it toxic and unpalatable to most predators. The toxicity survives through to the adult butterfly. Shown is the final instar before pupation. The chrysalis looks similar to that of the Monarch butterfly.
