The Greater Water Boatman shown is one of several species called Water Boatman and is also called the Common Backswimmer.
It lives in ponds and slow-moving water. It swims on its back and eats aquatic insects and tadpoles/tiny fish. It grows to around
1.5-1.6cm, about the size of the largest Lesser Water Boatmen. It can be green or brown. It has four short front legs for holding prey and
two exceptionally long hind legs for swimming.
