These Potter Wasps are gathering mud from a puddle to build their individual, pot-shaped nests.
There are over 3,000 species of potter wasp in over 200 genera. These are one of the Delta species in Central Asia
(similar to, but not the same as, the Great Potter Wasp, Delta unguiculatum, of Europe and the Indian Potter Wasp,
Delta pyriforme, and Delta petiolata of China/Southeast Asia).
These red-banded Potter Wasps are female Ancistrocerus haematodes haematodes in Tenerife, Canary Islands.
(The males are smaller and have hooked antennae.)
