Wasp Art of Vespula vulgaris

Trunk Old trunk with artistically colour-matched autumn leaves.
Wasps' nest Common Wasps entrance/exit hole(s) - summer.
Wasps' nest The chewed paper wasp nest inside (and spider's web).
Many thanks to Martin Starnes for the photos and story on this page when he moved an old trunk and discovered that Common Wasps were nesting in it - and "got away with three stings on my hand and an agreement that if I left them alone again, they'd do likewise. And so they were there well into November, and we all got along handsomely, and once they had all gone (where do they go to die, I wonder, because there is not a single corpse visible in my photos) I had a look inside."
Wasps' nest of recycled newspaper A good use to recycle old newspaper - if the chemicals in newsprint are tolerable.
Wasp art The newsprint certainly adds colour and tone to the wasps' delicate artwork.
