The Digger, also called Mud Dauber, Wasp is one of several with that name due to the female's habit of sealing her nesting tubes
(containing spiders/caterpillars for the larvae) with mud.
Mud Dauber Wasp Sceliphron spiriflex, distinctive with its yellow thread waist,
lives in much of Africa and some of southern Europe.
It is often found gathering mud for the nests.
The wasp in flight is also distinctive, with its long back legs trailing down and behind.
