The Beewolf, also called the European Beewolf, is a western Honey Bee predator resident in much of Europe and North Africa.
Until recently it was only an occasional vagrant to the UK but is now part of the resident population.
A solitary wasp, the female will paralyze several honey bee workers and carry them to her nesting hole for her larvae to feed on.
Beewolves have a distinctive yellow abdomen, a brown thorax and brown head with a yellow and white face.
The adult wasps eat nectar.
