The Common Carder Bumblebee has golden or ginger hair over both the thorax and the abdomen.
The worker (above left) and the queen (similar but larger) have bald faces while the male (above right) has golden or ginger hair on his face also.
Some are bright, marmalade orange, particularly early in the season before the sun fades them.
The tongue is longer than the head - this one is enjoying a wet lid from a honey jar.
They are hard-working bees on all sorts of flowers from early morning to late evening.
Another orange back
A female with bald face
A male with a tuft of hair on the face (and not working)
More of the tongue and the honey jar lid
On scabious with dark back -- possibly worn away
On nettle with bug
The usual covered gold back
With full pollen baskets and another with dark back
With bright ginger thorax, black hairy bar on back and light belly - I suppose this bee in NW London is a Carder (male).
Females (workers) also have dark hairs on their back and a light belly.
