The Ashy Mining Bee is a spring-flying bee. Above is the thinner male with a white tuft of hair on his
face and grey and white hairs on thorax and abdomen. The female is fatter, glossier and has two thick bands of white on her thorax.
Also called the Grey Mining Bee, it nests below ground. Males fly mainly in April (March-May);
females mainly in May (April-June).
