Saddled Sun Beetle Pachnoda marginata peregrina

Pachnoda marginata is a Sun Beetle that has several subspecies with different forms through West and Central Africa.

The Saddled Sun Beetle is the peregrina subspecies with its brown saddled markings on a yellow background. It is native to West Africa. It is also called the Taxicab Beetle in the USA.

It grows to some 2.5 cm long.

It feeds on rotting fruit and flowers and has an excellent sense of smell to find fruiting trees.
