Becker's Rhinoceros Beetle Xylotrupes beckeri

Becker's Rhinoceros Beetle is native to west Malayasia and Sumatra and is one of several Xylotrupes Rhinocerous beetles, also called Hissing Rhinoceros Beetles. It used to be classed as a subspecies of the Brown Rhinoceros Beetle, Xylotrues gideon, of Java, Indonesia. Only the males have the facial horns, used for fighting other males; males can reach some 7cm long (including horn).

The beetle can be shiny black or shiny brown. Females do not have horns.
