The Egyptian Predator Beetle is a ground beetle native to most of North Africa. Despite its Latin name of sexmaculata, it has many more than six white marks on its wing cases. It is one of the fastest running beetles but doesn't fly and it can spray formic acid to blind its insect prey. It grows to some 4cm long. Its larvae live in ant nests and eat ants and ant larvae.
