The Dragon-headed Katydid is native to Southeast Asia (particularly forests of Malaysia and Indonesia).
Two of these fearsome-looking but harmless insects in the genus share the common name (the other being E./L. intermedia).
Although katydids are related to crickets, the Spiny Dragonhead Cricket, Cosmoderus femoralis, of Africa, with a similar-looking head,
is an entirely different genus.
The Dragon-headed Katydid can grow to 5cm long. Eggs are laid inside plant stems.
