The Black-spotted Stingray, also called the Round Ribbontail Ray and Black-blotched Fantail, is native to sandy coasts,
estuaries and reefs of the Indo-Pacific.
Its background colour can be grey, brownish, pinkish or purple, with irregular black blotches and a white underside.
It grows to 1.8 metres wide and over 3 metres long. Like other stingrays, it has a venomous spine on its tail. It is mainly nocturnal.
