The Blonde Ray is a skate native to sandy coasts of the eastern Atlantic from Norway to Morocco and the western Mediterranean. It can grow to about a metre long, half body and half tail. The upper body and fins are pinky-beige or sandy covered with many mid-brown spots all over to the fin edges and along the tail. There are also small spines. It is well-camouflaged in the sand but endangered by overfishing, both deliberately and as trawler bycatch.
