The Silvertip Shark is native to coasts, islands, reefs and offshore banks of the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans
from eastern Africa through to Central America.
Unlike the Whitetip Reef Shark that has a white tip on its first dorsal fin and usually also on its upper tail fin,
the Silvertip also has white edging along the rear of the dorsal fin and tail fin and white on the lower tail fin.
It also grows to about twice the size at 3 metres long. Its prey is mainly fish but includes crustaceans and cephalopods.
