The Bonnethead Shark, a small member of the Hammerhead family, is native to tropical and subtropical
coasts of the Americas, both eastern and western.
Typically around a metre long, they have the smallest hammer head of the family. Unusually for sharks, they
eat seagrass as well as the usual crustaceans, molluscs and fish.
It has been classed as endangered (2020) due to a massive decline
in population by overfishing and near disapearance on the Pacific coast and on the South American Atlantic coast.
