Northern Sea Nettle Chrysaora melanaster

The Northern Sea Nettle is a jellyfish native to open sea of the northwestern Pacific and Arctic. It is/was sometimes referred to as the Japanese or the Pacific, which are separate species.

Its bell reaches 60cm (2 feet) in diameter with tentacles of up to 3 metres (10 feet). It uses its long tentacles to capture its prey of fish, other jellyfish and other small animals.
