The Cannonball Jellyfish is native to warm waters of coasts of the northwestern Pacific, the tropical eastern Pacific and the
Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean. The ball-shaped bell after which it is named grows to 25cm diameter and is whitish with some brown markings in
the Americas but can be sky blue in the Pacific. It has short tentacles and a mild, toxic sting.
It eats zooplankton caught on its tentacles. It is eaten by endangered Leatherback Turtles and also harvested for human consumption in the Far East.
