The Amakusa Jellyfish is native to the tropical Indo-western Pacific.
It has a translucent white or offwhite (yellowish/brownish) bell and feeder tentacles and 16 long stinging tentacles.
The bell can grow to 20cm across but is usually half that. Frilly feeder tentacles can grow to over 15cm and the stinging threads to some 30cm.
It has a painful and venomous sting.
Diet is other jellyfish, particularly Moon Jellyfish. It has the usual 6-stage jellyfish life cycle of egg, larva,
polyp, budding polyp which can reproduce asexually, ephyra and medusa (adult) with sexual reproduction
