The Long-snouted Pipefish, also called the Asian River Pipefish, is native to streams and rivers of Malaysia, Thailand,
Indonesia and Indochina. It is the largest freshwater pipefish, reaching over 40cm (16 inches) long.
A species of marine seahorse native to New Zealand, Stigmatopora macropterygia, shares the common name Long-snouted.
Diet includes tiny crustaceans, worms and other invertebrates.
Related to seahorses, the male pipefish carries the eggs in his brood pouch and gives birth to live young.
