The Dragon Moray Eel is also called the Leopard Moray as in its scientific name pardalis,
but the Laced Moray, Gymnothorax favagineus, is also called Leopard and there is a Freshwater Leopard Moray,
G. polyuranodon. The Dragon Moray is native to coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific, from the central
Indian to the central Pacific Oceans and north to Japan and south to the Barrier Reef.
It grows to nearly a metre long. Smell is its primary sense. It has four nostrils, two of which are the "horns" on the forehead.
It is a nocturnal predator, with its cryptic spotted and barred patterns helping it to hide in rocks in the day.
Prey is mainly fish and cephalopods (octopus, squid, cuttlefish, nautilus).
