The Asian Swamp Eel is an eel-like, air-breathing fish inhabiting freshwater, ditches and muddy swamps
of East and Southeast Asia.
It can grow up to a metre but is usually less than half that. It is mainly nocturnal, eating other fish,
amphibians, crayfish and aquatic invertebrates. All young are females; some mature as males but can revert to female.
The eel is widely eaten in the regions it inhabits.
