The Green and Gold Brittle Star, also called the Green Brittle Star, is native to waters around reefs of the Indo-WestPacific.
Its central disc is green with five spindly green arms bearing yellowish or white spines. It can grow to 50cm across, arm-tip to arm tip.
Unlike the related starfish (sea stars), brittle stars don't have suckers on their feet.
Mainly a scavenger, the Green and Gold will hunt small living fish and invertebrates.
