The Red-knobbed Starfish, also called the Red Knob Sea Star, is native to the Indo-WesternPacific Oceans, mainly along
the East African coastline, the Indian Ocean Islands and Indonesia.
It has a white base colour with bright red or crimson lines and patches and several red lumps or knobs. It has five arms
and can reach 30cm (one foot) across.
It is carnivorous, eating worms, sponges, corals, molluscs and even other starfish.
It is also over-collected and dried for the souvenir trade.
