The Blue Linckia is native to shallow waters of the Indo-Pacific. It is usually blue, ranging from pale to turquoise to mid, royal and dark blue, but can also be purple or orange. Some have faint spots.

It has five rounded arms and can reach 30-40cm across. Like other starfish, it can regenerate a lost limb. Unfortunately their bright colour results in them being over-collected to be dried for the souvenir and sea shell trade.
