The many species of "Tylomelania" genus of rabbit snails are native only to freshwater lakes of Indonesia's Sulawesi, many to Lake Poso. (Even the so-called "Himalayan Rabbit Snail" is native to Indonesia's Lake Mahalona.) The name "rabbit snail" relates to their appearance, their floppy antennae and elongated snout said to resemble a rabbit's head. They are vegetarian and may also burrow while browsing. Those shown were described as Tylomelania sp. "Pure Orange" but look identical to the Orange Giant Sulawesi Rabbit Snail, T. zemis, also called the Orange Poso.

Their dark cones grow to some 6cm long. The Orange Rabbit Snails above are shown with Daisy's Rice Fish. Rabbit snails are not hermaphroditic, they are either male or female. Females are ovoviviparous. Newly-hatched snails are among the longest of viviparous gastropods.
