Spiny lobsters don't have claws with pincers. The Painted Spiny Lobster, also called the Painted Rock Lobster,
is native to rocky reefs of the tropical Indian and western Pacific Oceans.
Its body is boldly marked with greenish-grey, black and white and the bases of its enormous antennae are pink with black spots.
The legs are black and white striped. The tail is yellow with blue edges. It can grow to 40cm (16 inches) long.
It is nocturnal, spending the day in crevices. At night it scavenges and preys on small fish and invertebrates.
