Shown is a male of one of the Protomelas species of Hap Cichlid native to Lake Malawi in East Africa.
(Possibly P. ornatus or P. similis.)
Like many Malawi cichlids, males have "egg spots" on their anal fins to guide females to the area to fertilise eggs.
Females are much plainer, mainly silver-grey. The fish shown centre above was with the males shown but seems so much smaller and narrower; it may be a juvenile.
