The Blue-speckled or Blue Peacock Bass, also called Blue-speckled Pavon, is a cichlid that looks like a bass, native to slow-moving rivers of northern South America, from Colombia, Venezuela, Guiana Shield and Brazil. They are smaller than most other Peacock Bass, but still a large fish reaching some 50cm long. Their pelvic, anal and tail fins have pale blue rather than the red of the larger Speckled Peacock Bass (shown swimming with them and with Black Pacu, above).
