The Leather Carp looks similar to a scaleless or minimum-scaled Mirror Carp but is said to be a different species
or subspecies (depending on source), possibly originally artificially bred from the Common Carp.
It has a leathery appearance, usually without any scales but it can have a few scales along the back and sometimes also before the tail.
It has the same habits, barbels and distribution as Common/Mirror Carps and, like them, grows typically to some 40-80cm long.
