Ghost Carp Cyprinus carpio x Cyprinus rubrofuscus

The Ghost Carp is a hybrid, sometimes feral and sometimes intentional, of a Common (or Mirror) Carp with a Koi (Nishikigoi) Carp. The Koi, ornamental varieties bred from the Amur Carp, Cyprinus rubrofuscus, are sometimes deliberately crossed with Common Carp to give a white or gold hybrid. Those above are feral carp in a local pond, the result of Koi escapees or dumped, unwanted captives, breeding with Common Carp, or feral hybrids rejected from a Koi pond/lake.
