Freshwater "Barracudas", Acestrorhynchus genus, are not related to the marine fish of that name but are characins with a similar elongated shape and ferocious disposition of the marine fish after which they are named. The Red-tailed Barracuda is native to the Orinoco and the lower Amazon basins.

It grows to 30cm (1 foot) long, swims fast, jumps well and feeds on other fish.
