Midnight Parrotfish Scarus coelestinus

The Midnight Parrotfish are native to reefs of the Caribbean, Bahamas and Florida. With beaklike teeth to scrape algae from rocks and corals, they grow typically to some 30-60cm long but can reach nearly 1 metre. Male, female and juveniles have the same colouring. Individuals often join schools of Blue Tang for protection since the Tangs have sharp tail spines to deter predators.
