The Rainbow Runner, the only fish in its genus, is one of the jack family close to the amberjacks.
It is native to mainly tropical waters, both coastal and pelagic, of the Indo-Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, including the Mediterranean.
Large fish, they grow to 1-1.2metres long. Although they look relatively uniform silver with two blue parallel
stripes in the photos above, they are an olive gold above, white/silver below, with a broad yellow/gold stripe between the two blue
lines and a yellow tail, earning their rainbow name. They are migratory and are fast-swimming piscivores.
