The Yellowfin Surgeonfish, also Yellowfin Tang, is native to reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
A large surgeonfish, they can grow to 60-70 cm long. The body of the adult is bluish grey.
There is a yellow eyemask as well as strong yellow on its pectoral fins.
Younger fish have stronger markings. Juveniles (not shown) live in reef shallows, look different to the adults
being patterned light and dark blue and used to be classed as separate species.
