The White-spotted Tang, also called White-spotted Surgeonfish, is native to shallow reefs of the Indo-Pacific Oceans.
Inhabiting surge zones, the white spots give camouflage in bubbling water.
Tangs are also known as Surgeonfish because of the sharp, scalpel-like spines at each side before the tail.
These are used to defend against rivals and predators.
The White-spotted Tang grows to 26cm long. It feeds on algae.
