The Vlamingi Tang, also called the Bignose Surgeonfish or Bignose Unicornfish, is native to tropical reefs of the Indo-Pacific from East Africa to the Great Barrier Reef.

It has purple highlights on its big nose, its eyes, lips and gills and thin purple lines and/or spots on its body.

Like some other Naso tangs, it has a yellow, extendable anal fin but the extendable dorsal fin is blue-grey. Large for surgeonfish, they can grow to over 60 cm long.

Most of its diet is algae and seaweed.
