Vampire Tang Acanthurus tennenti

The Vampire Tang is also called the Doubleband Surgeonfish and Lieutenant Tang, all names because of the two prominent dark bars behind its eye. It is native to reefs of the Indian Ocean from East Africa to southern Indonesia and northwestern Australia.

It can grow to 31 cm (one foot) long. The background colour can be light beige or blue-grey. Like many tangs, it can turn darker when stressed. Juveniles are yellow-gold.

Sometimes the two bars merge into a large spot. Diet includes alot of fast-growing hair algae.
