The Bluespine Unicornfish is so called since it has two pairs of sharp blue spines near its tail.
It is also sometimes called the Shortnose Unicornfish which is most confusing with the alternative name of the Spotted/Paletail Unicornfish being the
Short-nosed (N. brevirostris - despite its extra long horn). It is native to the western Indo-Pacific.
In addition to its pairs of blue spines, it has blue eyes and yellow eyerings on a mainly grey body -
but they can change colours a little according to mood.
Juvenile - short "horn".
They can grow to over 70 cm long.
