The (regular) Naso Tang is also known as the Lipstick Tang, the Orange-spined Surgeonfish (it has 2 sets of
sharp orange spines) and the Bar-cheeked Unicornfish.
It has well-defined, almost painted, facial features. It is native to coral reefs in the
Indo-Pacific, mainly the Pacific Ocean. It grows to some 45cm long.
The Blonde Naso, at first glance, looks remarkably similar. It is also called the Orange-spined
Surgeonfish/Unicornfish. It has a yellow dorsal fin rather than black, a different face shape (more protruding eyes and brow) and
a white tail with a bold black border (no yellow line on grey).
It grows to a similar length. Blonde Nasos are native to the Indian Ocean rather than the Pacific.
As the Bluestreak Cleaner Wrasse starts work, the Blonde Naso's hair stands on end; - it looks
as though a false cleaner fish has been nipping bites out of the Naso's top fin.
