The Black Longnose Tang, also called the Black Sailfin Tang/Surgeonfish, is native to reefs of the South Pacific. They can grow to some 20 cm long and eat mainly algae. Some look fully black and some dark bluish or purplish; often where there is damage to the scales, a lighter blue or purple is seen, as on those above.
